MAYA ERWIN OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a freshman goalkeeper from Kyle, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week beginning September 18th.
Erwin had a strong game in Austin College's lone competition of the week, earning a shutout with seven saves in a 1-0 win at the University of Dallas. Among those saves was a saved penalty kick, preserving both the shutout and the victory for the 'Roos.
The Crusaders outshot the 'Roos by 19-12, while earning one more shot on target. Erwin also faced three corner kicks in the game.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Julie Kelly of Trinity University and the Tiger defense limited the opposition to just eight total shots in two games, capped by yielding just one shot in the weekend finale at Southwestern on Sunday.
