CHELSEA COLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Texarkana, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week beginning September 11th.
Cole led #6 Trinity to a 6-0 win over the University of Dallas in the only game of the week for the Tigers.
Cole scored three goals in the win, including the eventual game-winning goal. Cole's first career hat trick extends Trinity's streak to nine consecutive seasons that a Tiger player has scored three or more goals in a game.
Cole now leads Trinity with five goals in six games, as well as adding two assists. She now has two game-winning goals this season, and is the only Tiger player with more than one.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Sarah Battles of Austin College scored a pair of goals in Austin College's 4-1 victory over Southwestern, notching the first goal of the game less than two minutes in and later adding a tally in the second half to help seal the victory. Sophomore forward Jaclyn Smolik of Texas Lutheran University scored both goals totaling 4 points in the 2-0 win over Austin College. Smolik had four shots on goal overall for both matches.
