ASTRID ESCOBAR
OF SEWANEE: THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a
sophomore from Panama City Beach, Fla., has been selected the SCAC
Women's Swimmer-of-the-Week for all meets through Sunday, December
4.
Escobar placed first in both the 100 and 200
breaststroke with times of 1:06.36 and 2:27.44, respectively
at the Union Winter Invitational. Her time in the 100
breaststroke set a new school record and achieved an NCAA
‘B’ cut.
Escobar also had a third place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:22.28.
Escobar also competed in all five relays, (200 free relay 1:45.57; split 26.49), (400 free relay 3:53.62; split 57.72), (800 free relay 8:34.63; split 2:11.29), (200 medley relay 1:55.55; split 31.08 in breaststroke leg finishing in second place) and (400 medley relay that claimed first place in 4:07.69; split 1:06.70 in breast).
