KARA BEAUCHAMP
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Sammanish,
Wash., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer-of-the-Week
for all meets through Sunday, November 10.
Two weeks after winning three individual events in
Trinity's dual meet with Southwestern,
Beauchamp repeated the hat-trick
against the University of Texas at Permian Basin on November 9. The
really impressive thing about her accomplishment is the fact that
she
achieved it while capturing three completely different events in
each of the meets.
Beauchamp actually opened her UTPB run by swimming the
butterfly leg on Trinity's winning 200 medley relay, before going
on to record easy wins in the 200 butterfly with a time
of 2:13.94, the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.18, and
the 400 IM with a time of
4:47.15.
Beauchamp now has SCAC-leading performances in four
events and looks like she's ready to make a run on an NCAA cut in
the long IM at the end of the season.
