MEGAN LEE OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior libero from University City, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29th through Monday, September 1st.

Lee, last season's SCAC Backrow Player of the Year, was outstanding for the Bulldogs as Texas Lutheran opened up their season with a 3-1 record at the Bulldog Classic. 

Lee lhe team with 6.93 digs/set, outdoing her 6.21 average a year ago (3rd in the country). She racked up double digit assists in all four games including 37 in a five set loss to Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She added a pair of games with over 20 digs against LeTourneau and Lewis & Clark.

Lee also tallied a career-high in service aces with six against Lewis & Clark, ending with nine on the weekend.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defensive specialist Rachel Fusselman of Austin College had a strong opening weekend in helping the 'Roos go 5-0 to open the season for the first time since 2010, averaging 4.71 digs with only two reception errors for the entire weekend. Freshman defensive specialist Haley Cubberly of Centenary College led the Ladies with 41 digs for the weekend including a high of 15 in the final match of the Austin College Invitational - a five-set victory over Huston-Tillotson, averaging 3.42 digs per set for the tournament. Junior defensive specialist Sophie Merrifield of Colorado College had a career-high five service aces and a career-high five points against Blackburn and led the team for digs in 3-of-4 matches including a career-high 20 against Minnesota-Morris. Senior middle blocker Emily Caples of the University of Dallas picked up three block solos and 11 block assists over the weekend at the UTD Labor Day Tournament while also adding four service aces. Junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Foster of Southwestern University racked up 50 kills on the weekend including 17 against Mary Hardin-Baylor and added three blocks and four service aces to lead the Pirates to a 2-2 record. Senior middle blocker Erin Cusenbary of Trinity University led the team in blocks in three of the four matches over the weekend, leading #13 Trinity to a 3-1 record at the season-opening UT-Dallas Tournament and recording five blocks in those three matches, and 17 total for the weekend, nearing 400 in her career. Schreiner University did not nominate anyone.
