BRANDI CAMPOS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior defensive specialist from San Antonio, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 22nd through Saturday, September 23rd.
Campos averaged 6.33 digs per set through three matches this weekend, highlighted with a 7.33 average against Schreiner University.
Campos had one service ace on the weekend in a five-set match against Texas Lutheran University.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore setter Jaci Chambers of Texas Lutheran University recorded 25 digs in a four-set game against Trinity and had three service aces. Senior defensive specialist Tatiana Ferrari of Austin College totaled 50 digs overall in the 'Roos four matches on the week. Junior outside hitter Sarah Mullens of Trinity University paced the Tigers with 59 total digs and seven service aces over the three victories, averaging 5.36 digs/set in her 11 sets played. She had her best match in the Friday night showdown with #2 Southwestern, tallying 29 digs in just four sets for an average of 7.25 digs/set. Sophomore middle hitter Marguerite Spaethling of Colorado College had a season-high 10 kills in the Tigers' win over the University of Dallas over the weekend.
