Avery Tuggle, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 2)

AVERY TUGGLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman outside hitter from Cedar Creek, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 8th through Sunday, September 10th. 

Tuggle led the 10th-ranked Tiger volleyball team to a 3-1 record at last weekend's Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational, which included wins over #9 Claremont and #11 Cal Lutheran. Tuggle finished the weekend with 2.71 kills/set and a .248 hitting percentage, as well as recording 10 blocks for the Tigers. Her most impressive outings came against nationally-ranked opposition.

Tuggle led all players with 16 kills in Trinity's 3-1 win over #9 Claremont, then led the match once again with 12 kills in the 3-0 Tiger win over Cal Lutheran. In that match against Cal Lutheran, she hit .393 overall, committing just one error in 28 attacks. 

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Desiree Frey of Centenary College added another set of double-doubles to her career stats against Belhaven. Sophomore outside hitter Makenzie Griffin of Texas Lutheran University recored 49 kills and hit .212 in TLU's 2-2 run at the UT-Tyler tournament. Freshman outside hitter Mayson Kennon of Austin College recorded 15 kills in the 'Roos 3-1 win over Concordia-Texas. Senior outside hitter Kate Mitchell of Southwestern University was named the Pirates' Fall Invitational MVP and posted 33 kills over the weekend. Senior outside hitter Mary Scholz of the University of Dallas recorded double-doubles in all four matches the Crusaders played in the Austin College Invitational and totals 57 digs on the weekend.
