KATIE
SACK OF BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN
COLLEGE, a senior on the women's
cross country team who hails from Goshen, Ky., has been
selected the SCAC Character & Community Female
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending October 17,
2010.
Sack has been involved in ESL tutoring for recent
immigrants for the past two years. She also works with the
Northstar Soccer Club, a program for underprivileged
youth.
This past spring, Sack started Beyond Basic
Babysitting, which is a group of BSC students who are trained to
care for children with physical, developmental, and behavioral
disabilities.
Sack is also very active with her church,
Highlands United Methodist, participating in the Wesley Fellowship
and Reform University Fellowship and serving as a Chapel Intern,
Campus Small Group Leader, and Senior High Sunday School
Teacher.
A Resident Advisor on campus, Sack writes for the
sports section of the Hilltop News, and is an intern in
the Sparks Clinic MRI lab.
