SCAC #8in8 Tour - Day Five (Centenary College)

SHREVEPORT, La. - After a one-day hiatus, the 2015 #SCAC8in8 tour resumed on Tuesday with the fifth of eight stops and a visit to the campus of the Centenary College. Photo Gallery

In this, the third year of the event, SCAC Assistant Commissioner Katie Mucci (@katiemucci) and Sports Information and Multimedia Assistant Blake Childers (@SCAC_BChilders) will visit each of the eight campuses of the conference over the course of 10 days.

This year's tour will be promoted via the conference's Twitter (@SCAC_Sports), Instagram (@SCAC_Sports) and Snapchat (scacsports) accounts. You can also follow the progress of the tour by using the hashtag #SCAC8in8.

Additionally, the SCAC will again enlist the assistance of a student-athlete representative from each campus to shoot video and take pictures, which will be posted on the conference's Instagram and YouTube accounts as well as an original video from the conference representatives.

Limited edition #SCAC8in8 prizes will be given out by student reps who will be asking SCAC- and institution-based trivia questions throughout the campus visit.

On Tuesday, Blake and Katie received a campus tour from senior Michael Pullano, a student ambassador and senior midfielder on the Centenary men's soccer team. Centenary, founded in 1825, is the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River.

Along the tour, Blake and Katie checked out the iconic Gold Dome, which houses the school's gymnasium as well as coaches' offices, and was treated to a visit to Strawn's Eat Shop. Just across from campus, Strawn's is home of some of the best pie in the South and, as shared by senior midfielder Meaghan Rogers, apparantly used to motivate Centenary student-athletes. After the campus tour, Blake and Katie caught a late night women's and men's soccer doubleheader against visiting LeTourneau University. Although both matches were hard fought and came down to a single goal margin, the #SCAC8in8 tour win streak came to an end as the Ladies lost 5-4 and the Gents dropped a 1-0 thriller. A foursome of Centenary student-athletes took us for a tour around campus and gave us a peek at the typical game day atmosphere. Assisting on the Centenary College #SCAC8in8 tour stop were senior baseball players Paul Arcement and Holden Novak, senior softball player Emily Sexton and senior men's basketball player Justin Cueto. Click here to view the video if it does not appear below.

Tomorrow Blake and Katie are off to Seguin, Texas and Texas Lutheran University for the sixth stop of the #SCAC8in8 tour where the Bulldogs' women's soccer team will host its conference-opener against Southwestern University.
