BRETT H. VAUGHN OF AUSTIN
COLLEGE, a 6-2,
240-pound junior defensive lineman from Carrolton, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for
games played Saturday, September 20th.
Vaughn played a huge role in special
teams, helping the 'Roos pick up their first win of the season by
defeating Occidental by the score of 21-12.
Vaughn made a game changing play, blocking a
short field goal attempt as time expired on the first half to keep
the game at 9-7 and shift all the momentum in favor of the
'Roos.
It was his first blocked kick of the season and the first of his
career. Vaughn added a tackle on the
afternoon.
Freshman punter Davis King of Trinity punted seven times for a total of 330 yards on Saturday, averaging 47.1 yards/punt. He fired off punts of 74 and 56 yards on back-to-back attempts in the second quarter. Southwestern and Texas Lutheran did not nominate anyone.
