JAYDEN HOLDEN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from The Woodlands, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, December 17th. Holden shares the award with Keenan Gumbs of Schreiner University.
Holden led Trinity to a 1-1 record at the Leslie Robinson Invitational Classic, defeating Springfield College on Saturday, but dropping a double-overtime game against East Texas Baptist.
Holden scored a career-high 30 points on 9-12 shooting in Friday's loss to ETBU, hitting all three of his attempts from three-point range, and knocking down 9-10 from the free throw line.
In Saturday's win, Holden connected on 5-5 from the floor and 5-5 from the foul line, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds. It marked his first double-double of the season, as well as the fourth of his career.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Travion Kirkendoll of Centenary College turned in his second-best shooting game of the season and nearly had a triple-double with a career high nine assists in the Gents' win over Millsaps. Junior guard Darrius Colvin of the University of Dallas scored a team-high 18 points in the Crusaders victory over SCAC preseason favorite, Colorado College, also adding three rebounds and assists. Sophomore guard Ryan Wheeler of Southwestern University averaged 11.5 points and four rebounds in the Pirates' two games last week. Junior guard Nathan Josephs of Texas Lutheran University drained a game-winner at the buzzer to lift the Bulldogs over HSU, finishing with 21 points five rebounds and three assists.
