KEENAN GUMBS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from Cibolo, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, December 17th. Gumbs shares the award with Jayden Holden of Trinity University.
Gumbs led Schreiner to a 1-1 record on the road last week, defeating McMurry University, but falling just short against Hardin-Simmons University.
Gumbs scored 24 points in both games, shooting 51.7% from the field and 50% from distance. Gumbs also grabbed 10.5 rebounds and dished out 2.0 assists per contest.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Travion Kirkendoll of Centenary College turned in his second-best shooting game of the season and nearly had a triple-double with a career high nine assists in the Gents' win over Millsaps. Junior guard Darrius Colvin of the University of Dallas scored a team-high 18 points in the Crusaders victory over SCAC preseason favorite, Colorado College, also adding three rebounds and assists. Sophomore guard Ryan Wheeler of Southwestern University averaged 11.5 points and four rebounds in the Pirates' two games last week. Junior guard Nathan Josephs of Texas Lutheran University drained a game-winner at the buzzer to lift the Bulldogs over HSU, finishing with 21 points five rebounds and three assists.
