JOE SPONSEL OF
SOUTHWESTERN
UNIVERSITY,
a senior from Georgetown, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Track
Athlete-of-the-Week for meets through Sunday, March
23rd.
Sponsel won his first ever event,
winning the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Texas A&M Kingsville
Cactus Cup Invitational this past weekend in Kingsville,
Texas.
Sponsel finished in a time of 10:40.63 to earn
10 points for the Pirates, the highest single event point total for
any Pirate at the meet.
The Pirate men finished in seventh place overall out of nine,
majority upper-level teams.
