NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference had 16 total men's and women's cross country teams named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic list for the 2009 season. Nine women's teams were honored while seven men's teams earned the distinction.
Women's teams that were named All-Academic include:
1). Centre College - 3.30 GPA
2). Colorado College - 3.39 GPA
3). DePauw University - 3.45 GPA
4). Hendrix College - 3.52 GPA
5). Oglethorpe University - 3.18 GPA
6). Rhodes College - 3.50 GPA
7). Sewanee: University of the South - 3.27 GPA
8). Southwestern University - 3.59 GPA
9). Trinity University - 3.33 GPA
Men's teams that were named All-Academic include:
1). Centre College - 3.35 GPA
2). Colorado College - 3.36 GPA
3). DePauw University - 3.18 GPA
4). Hendrix College - 3.16 GPA
5). Rhodes College - 3.34 GPA
6). Sewanee: University of the South - 3.30 GPA
7). Trinity University - 3.29 GPA
The SCAC's nine women's teams were tied for second most in the nation, just one behind the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's 10 teams.
A total of 153 Division III women's teams were named All-Academic while a record total of 110 Division III men's teams also earned the honor.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
