Trinity Leads Four SCAC Men's Teams at NCAA Cross Country Regionals

Led by SCAC Runner-of-the-Year Taylor Piske's sixth-place finish, Trinity University placed third at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country South/Southeast Regional Saturday morning, which was contested at the Kernstown Battlefield course in Kernstown, Va. Texas Lutheran finished in 21st place and Southwestern finished 29th. Meanwhile, at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country West Regional run at the Pomona College Campus Course and hosted by Occidental College, Colorado College placed 15th behind a 43rd-place individual finish from Jacob Rothman. No SCAC team or individual earned a berth to the national meet.

The Tigers finished with 100 team points - just three points behind second-place Christopher Newport University. Emory University led the 30-team field with 86 points en route to its first-place finish.

Piske finished in a time of 26:06.7 and earned both all-Region recognition and an individual berth in next weekend's NCAA championships meet his finishing time of 26:01.29. Trinity freshman Oliver Langselius, the SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year, finished in seventh with a time of 26:09.0 and, in addition to earning all-Region honors, will join Piske in Winneconne, Wisc., at the 2015 NCAA Division III championship meet.

Junior Austin Brown, who finished 17th (26:51.4) and sophomore Michael Erickson, who finished 20th (26:59.4), both earned all-Region honors by virtue of their top 35 finish. Roundnig out Trinity's runners, sophomore Jacob Hammond was 51st (27:44.0), freshman Brian Wongchotigul was 56th (27:52.6) and freshman Elliot Blake was 77th (28:26.1).

Texas Lutheran University finished 21st with 595 points. The Bulldogs were led by freshman Taylor Stephens who finished in 112th place in a time of 29:19.0. Freshman Cameron Reagan (29:29.5) and sophomore Donald Manuszewski (29:30.7) finished in 123rd and 124th place, respectively, while freshman Augustine Guerrero was 128th (29:41.8) and sophomore Blake Westbrook was 133rd (29:48.3).   

Southwestern University finished in 29th place with 849 points. The Pirates were paced by sophomore Abraham Devenport, who finished 137th among individual runners with a time of 29:58.4. A trio of freshman were next to cross the line for Southwestern with Luke Ford coming in 169th (31:13.8), Austin Morrison placing 191st (33:08.0) and Ulises Castaneda (33:19.4) finishing 193rd. Senior Elliott Foreman (34:08.5) rounded out the SU runners with a 199th place finish. 

The University of Dallas did not field a complete team but senior Ryan McAnany placed 38th among 203 individuals with a finishing time of 27:23.6.

Austin CollegeCentenary College and Schreiner University did not compete in the regional competition.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Jacob Rothman finished in 43rd place to lead Colorado College to a 15th-place team finish at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country West Regional, hosted by Occidental College. West Regional Complete Results

Rounding out the CC runners was junior Conor Terhune (56th - 27:40.6), freshman David Eik (78th - 28:10.9), sophomore Ethan Holland (82nd - 28:27.4), senior Tucker Hampson (93rd - 28:42.9), senior Whit Henderson (116th - 30:15.0) and freshman Adam Holliday (121st - 31:25.8).

Colorado College was the only SCAC school that competed in the West Regional.
