Trinity Men Win Second Cross Country Title in Three Years

SEGUIN, Texas – On the strength of seven All-SCAC individual performances, the Trinity University men earned the program's second cross country title in three years Saturday morning on the campus of Texas Lutheran UniversityIndividual Results | Team ScoresOfficial Website | Facebook Photo Album

Led by senior Michael Erickson, TU Tigers crossed the finish line in second, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place to dominate the early finishers and post a team score of 24 - the sixth-lowest winning score in the history of the SCAC men's cross country championship. Erickson earned his fourth all-conference honor with a time of 25:19.45. Tiger freshman Harry Bellow, who finished sixth in a time of 25:45.53, was the first freshman to cross the line and earned Newcomer-of-the-Year honors for his performance. He is the fifth Trinity runner in the last six years to earn the Newcomer-of-the-Year award. 

The title is the fourth overall for the Trinity men's cross country program (2012, 2013, 2015).

Colorado College sophomore Max Blackburn earned SCAC Runner-of-the-Year honors with a winning time of 25:18.21. The CC Tigers placed four runners in the top 14 to earn all-conference honors and finished with 45 points, 21 points behind team champion Trinity.

Blackburn is CC's 10th individual men's winner at the SCAC meet since the Tigers joined the conference in 2006.

Rounding out the team standings, the host school Texas Lutheran University was third with 87 points, Southwestern University was fourth with 98 points, University of Dallas finished fifth with a score of 137, Austin College was sixth with 157 points and Schreiner University placed seventh with a score of 199.
