CAITLYNN DYKES
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year catcher from
Port Neches, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 19 through
Sunday, March 25.
Dykes led Trinity to a four-game SCAC sweep of
the University of Dallas over the weekend, putting the Tigers into
first in the West Division standings.
Dykes hit a blistering .615 over the weekend,
going 8-13 at the plate. She scored eight runs and had eight RBI in
the four games, leading the team in both categories.
Dykes also held a slugging percentage of 1.077
with a double, a triple, and her third homer of the season.
She opened the weekend with a 3-4 performance, driving in three
runs and scoring another. In the second game, she went 2-3 with
three runs and two RBI, hitting a triple and a home run.
On the final day, Dykes was 3-6 with four runs
and three RBI in the two games to finish the sweep, and extend her
hitting streak to 14 games.
For the season, Dykes is second on the team with
a .432 batting average, going 32-74 with 20 runs and a team-leading
28 RBI. She leads the Tigers in slugging (.649) and is second in
on-base percentage (.482) for the year.
