LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The 2019-20 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball season continued last week, highlighted by St. Thomas posting a 2-1 record in its opening three contests in Division III and Trinity securing a win in its lone contest of the week.

St. Thomas (2-1) opened its 2019-20 campaign and first games at the Division III level with a busy week, playing three games in three days posting a 2-1 record bookending victories over Louisiana College, 92-65, on Friday and LeTourneau, 77-60, on Sunday. Sheridan Hopkins led the way for the Celts, eclipsing the 1,400 career point mark along the way. Hopkins scored 25 or more in all three contests including pouring in 30 in the win over Louisiana College. On the week, the senior averaged 27 points on 52.3 percent shooting and grabbed 9.3 rebounds per game. She also added six steals and six blocks while averaging nearly 35 minutes a night. 
 
Trinity (2-1) defeated Hardin-Simmons at home Sunday night, 77-68, in the Tigers lone contest of the week. Emily Daniel led all scorers with 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting overall and 4-of-8 from three-point range. She also picked up three assists and a pair of steals in the game. Abby Holland hit 9-for-18 from the field on her way to a 20-point night, picking up three rebounds and two steals. Hailey Coleman also reached double figures with 14 points and led the way for the Tigers on the boards with eight. 
 
Dallas (0-1) opened its 2019-20 campaign up with an 82-41 loss at home last Tuesday. Beyonce Perry led the way for the Crusaders with 14 points that included a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. 
 
Texas Lutheran (0-3) fell in its lone game of the week, 70-63, to Howard Payne in the home opener for the Bulldogs last Friday. Tara Molina paced TLU with 14 points and added six assists, five rebounds and five steals in a losing cause.
 
Southwestern (0-3) dropped its only contest last week, losing to UT-Dallas on the road Saturday afternoon, 84-65. Lauren Fulenwider came off the bench to score 17 points in 16 minutes of action to lead the Pirates. 
 
Colorado College (0-3) traveled to Georgia to play in the Emory Eagles Shootout, falling in both its contests, 76-64, to Lynchburg on Saturday and 77-49 to Emory on Sunday. McKenzee Gertz averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game to lead the Tigers. 
 
SCAC women’s basketball action continues this week with a full schedule of games that includes six contests on Saturday and eight more on Sunday.
