LAYNE HUBBARD OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter from Austin, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 8th through Sunday, September 14th.
Hubbard led the Tigers to a 4-0 record at this weekend's Trinity Fall Classic, holding a 12-2 set record, and finishing as the only undefeated team.
Hubbard was named the Tournament MVP for her performance, which included leading the team in both kills and service aces over the four matches. She hit an impressive .435 with a team-high 10 kills in a 3-0 win over #18 Claremont on Friday night. Against both George Fox and Puget Sound, Hubbard posted double-doubles to lead the team to wins. She also grabbed 11 aces in the four matches, highlighted by five aces to start the weekend against George Fox.
For the season, Hubbard is third on the team with 93 total kills (2.33/set) and a .218 hitting percentage. She leads the team with 24 total aces (0.60/set), and also has 112 total digs (2.80/set) and 16 blocks (0.40/set) for the year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore middle blocker Presleigh Watson of Austin College continued her outstanding start to the season, leading the 'Roos in kills, hitting percentage, and blocks as the 'Roos went 3-1 during the weekend. Watson totaled 12 blocks, and also had 32 kills against only five attack errors. Freshman outside hitter Desiree Frey of Centenary gathered 15 kills in the Ladies' seven matches including a team-best 13 kills against LeTourneau, averaging 2.14 kills for the weekend and 10 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Abbe Holtze of Colorado College led the team in kills in four out of five matches, while averaging 13.6 kills a match and was second on the team in digs and blocks and was third on the team in assists and earned a career-high 27 digs and five assists against La Verne to go along with her 16 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Kirby Kincannon of Southwestern led the Pirates to three wins with a .391 attack percentage, adding in two ace, 14 digs and 11 blocks (also a team high). Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Fording of Texas Lutheran tallied double-digit kills in all four matches as she led TLU to a 3-1 record. Had a career-high 19 kills against George Fox. Dallas did not nominate anyone. Schreiner was idle this past weekend.
