McCullough's Runner-Up Finish Highlights NCAA Regional Cross Country Action

Molly McCullough of Trinity University finished in second place at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championship Saturday at Mount Berry, Ga., on the campus of Berry College.


MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Behind a second-place individual finish from SCAC Runner-of-the-Year senior Molly McCullough, the Trinity University women's cross country team finished fourth at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championship Saturday. Results

The defending region champions, Trinity posted a score of 131 and finished behind Emory University (83), Centre College (106) and Washington & Lee University (116). 

On a brisk and breezy morning, McCullough finished the 6K course in a time of 22:31.08 to earn All-Region honors for the fourth consecutive year and earned an individual slot in next weekend's NCAA Cross Country Championship which will be held November 17 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Trinity's women have now placed a team or individual at the NCAA Championships for 11 of the past 12 seasons.

Junior Brianna Ratliff finished in 16th place (23:26.26) and junior Laura Taylor finished in 21st (23:33.54) to join McCullough on the All-Region squad. The All-Region nod is also the third for Taylor.

Rounding out the scorers for the Tigers, senior Allison Hill placed 46th (24:31.91) and sophomore Jordan Juran was 48th (24:34.97).

Southwestern University was the only other SCAC women's program to score. The Pirates placed 27th with a score of 745 and were led by freshman Valerie Acosta who finished in 135th place in a time of 26:44.74.

Texas Lutheran University had two runners at the meet and was paced by the effort of junior Ashley Rynard who came in 65th place with a time of 25:03.55.


WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Colorado College women's cross country team wrapped up its 2018 season with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships Saturday in Walla Walla, Wash. Results
 
The Tigers finished the meet with 211 team points. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps captured the team title with 46, followed by Pomona-Pitzer with 101 and Whitman with 167.
 
Senior Leah Veldhuisen and freshman Megan Koch led the Tigers and earned All-Region honors by placing 28th and 34th, respectively. Veldhuisen completed the 6K course in a season-best time of 23.10.6, just ahead of Koch's personal-best time of 23:15.6.
