LEAH WESSLER OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior runner from Ashland, Ore., has been named the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets run through Sunday, September 18th.
Wessler earned her second consecutive Runner of the Week honor after leading the Tigers to a second place finish in the Nebraska Wesleyan Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational.
Wessler finished in 14th place, behind 10 NCAA Division I runners. She was the top Division III finisher in the field of 156 athletes.
The Tigers will take a two week break before heading north to Denver for the Metro State Roadrunner Invitational on October 1.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Sarah Fritzsche of Texas Lutheran University finished first among collegiate runners for the second meet in a row at the Texas Lutheran Bulldog Invitational. Sophomore Bridget Kennedy of the University of Dallas finished third of all scoring runners at the TLU Invitational and helping the team to a second place finish.
