SCAC announces Spring 2009 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll
July 08, 2009SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named a record 1,029 student-athletes to the 2009 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total eclipsed last year's previous record of 948 student-athletes. -

Oglethorpe Men's Golf Team Earns School's First-Ever National Championship; Loftsson Wins Individual Title

LUCIE, Fla. - With a final-round 289, the Oglethorpe University men's golf team earned the school's first-ever national title, winning the the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship Saturday afternoon at the PGA Village. The Petrels' Olafur Loftsson won the individual national title with a playoff victory over University of La Verne's Mitchell Fedorka.

LUCIE, Fla. - The Oglethorpe University men's golf team posted another stellar score in Round Three of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The Petrels carded a team total 2-over par 290 on Friday to move into second place, only four strokes off the pace of tournament leader Methodist.

May 13, 2009PORT ST. LUCIE, FL - For the ninth straight year the Oglethorpe University men's golf team teed off at the NCAA Golf Championships today in Round One action. The Petrels shot a team 13-over 301 on the tougher Dye course to hold down a tie for 16th place after day one.

May 04, 2009INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Oglethorpe University men's golf team earned its ninth consecutive NCAA Championship bid and the program's 10th overall bid in 2009. The Stormy Petrels won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship April 26. In addition to the Oglethorpe men, Centre College sophomore Chris Morris qualified for the tournament as an individual.

DePauw Wins Fourth Consecutive SCAC President's Trophy

With only men's and women's golf to be decided, DePauw University turned a 10-point deficit to Trinity University to a 10-point victory and the Tigers from Indiana clinched their fourth consecutive SCAC President's Trophy.

April 17, 2009ATLANTA, Ga. – The No. 4 ranked Oglethorpe University men's golf team won the Georgia Cup for the ninth consecutive year at a wind blown and rain soaked Stone Mountain Golf Club earlier this week. The Petrels secured the Cup with their third place finish in the Emory/Stone Mountain Spring Invitational. The nation's top two ranked teams (Huntingdon and Methodist) in the Nike / Golf World Magazine Coaches Poll finished first and second place in the event.

Tigers Claim DePauw Small College Classic Title for Second Straight Year
October 05, 2008CLAYTON, Ind. - The Tigers shot a DePauw Small College Classic single-round record of 288 today and matched their two-round tournament record of 591 as they captured their second straight Classic title. Otterbein was second with a 598 and Wittenberg third at 616.

Oglethorpe men win Rhodes Fall Golf Classic
September 22, 2008TUNICA, Miss. - The Oglethorpe University men fired a tournament-record score of 7 under par 281 to win the Rhodes College Fall Collegiate Golf Classic at Tunica National Golf Resort - the site of the 2009 SCAC Golf Championships. Jeff Rein of Texas Lutheran University won medalist honors with a score of 140, just one shot better than Rhodes' Bill Bazzel.
