LILAH BEVINS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman defender from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week beginning October 9th.
Bevins led 12th-ranked Trinity to a pair of shutout wins at home over the weekend, defeating both Texas Lutheran and Southwestern in SCAC action.
Bevins and the Tiger defense allowed a total of three shots in the two games, limiting Texas Lutheran to just one attempt and Southwestern to just two shots. Bevins also recorded an asisst in the win over TLU on Friday.
This weekend's games extended Trinity's shutout streak to five games, and the Tigers have allowed just one goal in the last 12 games. Trinity has recorded 11 overall shutouts this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman goalkeeper Maya Erwin of Austin College earned a big shutout victory over the University of Dallas in a crucial conference match over the weekend, making seven saves against the Crusaders. Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Pitcher of Centenary College grabbed three saves to preserve her third shutout of the season as Centenary picked up three critical points in a 4-0 win against Dallas on senior night. Sophomore goalkeeper Jordin Toso of Schreiner University helped the Mountaineers to a pair of conference shutouts over the weekend.
