Emma Funk of Trinity University, a freshman middle blocker from Pass Christian, Miss., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 24th to Sunday September 30th.
Funk averaged 1.25 blocks/set over the weekend and led the Tigers with 10 total blocks. The freshman recorded her best performance of the week against Colorado College, downing six blocks, a career-best, as well as five digs. On the season, Funk has averaged 0.98 blocks/set and posted a .318 hitting percentage for the maroon and gray.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle blocker Myca Steffey-Bean of Colorado College handed 13 blocked shots to SCAC opponents last weekend in three matches, which included a season high performance of seven block assists against Texas Lutheran. Mari Prazak, a freshman from Austin College, continued to lead the ‘Roos defensively averaging 4.42 digs-per-set and totaling 84 digs in five matches. Junior libero Jaci Chambers recorded double-digit dig performances in all four of Texas Lutheran’s matches last week and avereaged 6.14 digs-per-set with a total of 86 digs. Southwestern senior defensive specialist Brandi Campos posted two 20 plus dig performances in both matches for the Pirates last week, averaging 5.11 digs-per-set.
