LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the eight SCAC women’s cross country teams were in action this past weekend.
Austin College
The Austin College women opened up their season this past weekend,
heading to the Texas-Tyler Invitational. The women placed fifth
overall out of 11 teams with Alex Quinn finsihed 25th with a time
of 22:47.98. Amanda Goodson (23:17.75) took 28th place while Eden
Llamas added a 30th place finish. the 'Roos will be back in action
this weekend as they will run at the Gerald Ritchey Invitational at
Texas-Arlington.
Centenary College
The Centenary Ladies opened their season up at the Texas-tyler
Invitational with an 11th place finish. Christy Wolterman was the
top finisher with a 26:19.65 while Kayla Thornhill finished with a
time of 28:14.79. Brittany Wagner finished with a time of 33:32.31.
Centenary will return to action next weekend as they compete in the
Lois David Invitational on the campus of Southern Arkansas.
Schreiner University
The Mountaineers took home a fourth place finished at the Texas
Lutheran Invite. Adriana Mercado crossed the line first for
Schreienr with a time of 23:19 to finish in 15th. Allyson Graybull
was right behind her with a time of 23:30 and a 17th place finish.
Devan Aguilar had a 24th place finish with a time of 25:32.
Schreiner will take a couple weekends off, but will be back in
action on September 27th as they compete in the Hardin-Simmons
Stampede Invitational.
Southwestern University
The Pirate women returned to the course as they competed in the
Texas Lutheran Invite, securing a third place finish. Emily
Boujemaa had another fantastic race, finishing fourth overall,
crossing the line at 20:33.21. Brianna Timourian made it two top 10
finishes with a posted time of 22:12.89. Danielle King finished
13th for Southwestern. The Pirates will take some time off the next
two weekends, but will be back in action on September 27th as they
compete at the Hardin-Simmons Stampede on September 27th.
Texas Lutheran University
The Bulldogs competed in front of their home crowd on Saturday
morning, taking a second place finish at the Texas Lutheran Invite
and finishing first among Division III schools. Sarah Fritzsche
finished second overall, and first among DIII runners, with a time
of 20:15.52. Jasmine Medrano finished with a time of 21:02.14 and a
fifth place finish while Stephanie Ernst took home seventh place
with a time of 21:24.54. The Bulldogs will take a week off and
return to action on Septemeber 19th at the UTSA Ricardo Romo
Classic.
Colorado College, Dallas, and Trinity did not compete this weekend.
