Men's XC Recap (Week 6) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the eight SCAC men's cross country teams were in action this past weekend.

Centenary College
The Centenary cross country programs competed at the Watson Ford Invitational hosted by Mississippi College on Friday. The Gents finished 20th respectively. Gregory Simmons stood as the second top finisher for the Gents with a time of 35:41.98 (142) with Demri Robinson finishing third on the Centenary squad with a time of 35:51.96 (143). David Gerhart and Joseph Reilly rounded out the men’s squad. Gerhart posted a time of 38:29.33 (153) with Reilly tallying a time of 38:43.91 (155). Centenary returns to the course at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 1 in San Antonio, Texas.

Colorado College
Led by seniors Graham Frank and Nick Hall, the Colorado College men's cross country team ran to a seventh-place finish Saturday at the 6th Annual Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country Invite in Claremont, Calif. The Tigers, who collected 255 points, placed third among Division II teams at the meet. Frank, who has paced the Tigers for the third straight race, finished 24th out of 183 runners with an 8k time of 26 minutes and 7 seconds, while Hall placed 29th with a time of 26:17. Sophomore Conor Terhune placed 81st (27.16) followed by junior Tucker Hampson in 100th place (27:34). Sophomore Jacob Rothman was the final scorer for CC with a 104th place finish in 27:43. CC's top five runners each posted a season-best time on Saturday. The Tigers wrap up the 2014 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open in Fort Hays, Kan.

University of Dallas
The University of Dallas cross country team finished ninth at the 2014 Warrior Invitational at Wisconsin Lutheran. Junior Ryan McAnany continued his great seasonw with a 10th place finish and a time of 27:56.9 followed by a 35th place finish by Javier Secaira with a time of 29:02.1 Rounding out the Crusaderes was Jack Grubner (48th) with a time of 30:25.5, Gabriel Marasigan (69th) with a time of 31:11.8, and Zach Zandt (77th) with a time of 31:29.1. The Crusaders return to action next weekend as they go to Marshall, Texas to compete in the East Texas Baptist Invite.

Texas Lutheran University
At the Texas Lutheran Cross Country Invite 2 Saturday morning, the TLU Men grabbed the first four overall spots in the men's race to impress in their second home event of the season. TLU's Travis Koenig, Bond Birkner, Rudolph Calderon, and Mick Manuzewski came home in first, second, third and fourth. Koenig won the race in 17:14. Birkner, Calderon and Manuszewski recorded times of 17:38, 17:44 and 17:48. Both TLU teams return to action next Saturday in San Antonio for the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational. The meet is set for an 8 a.m. start.

Trinity University
The Tiger men finished 16th at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. The Trinity men's team was competing in its first 8k race of the season, and several Tiger newcomers had their first career 8k event. Trinity’s top men’s runner was Taylor Piske, who crossed the finish line in the 8k in 26:15.5. Piske placed 140th of 429 runners, and his current marks are well ahead of his performances at this time last year. Austin Brown finished in 26:57.7, which is nearly two minutes faster than his personal record.  Michael Erickson and Jacob Hammond both put up strong times for their first 8k. The Tigers will compete in the University of Incarnate Word Invitational on Saturday, October 11, at Live Oak, Texas.

Austin College, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not compete this weekend.
