DePauw Advances to NCAA Softball Regional Championship Game with Win over Hiram

ADRIAN, Mich. - DePauw blanked Hiram, 8-0, and advanced to Sunday's 2 p.m. title game of the Adrian Regional in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The Tigers will make their fifth straight appearance in the regional championship game and fourth coming through the winner's bracket. Box Score | Official Site

DePauw scored four in the bottom of the first as Jen Kosinski scored from third when Haley Buchanan reached on an error. Emma Minx then scored on a wild pitch before Holly Paris knocked in Buchanan and Amy Hallett with a single down the left field line.

Rachel MacBeth led off the second with a single and scored on Brianne Weeks' double before Paris drove in Buchanan with a third-inning double giving the Tigers a 6-0 lead.

The Tigers added two more in the fifth to end the game as Buchanan led off with a walk and moved to second on Hallett's sacrifice bunt. Paris was intentionally walked and Samantha Szyska entered as a pinch-runner. Pinch-hitter Jamie Story reached on a fielder's choice which loaded the bases. Cymone Allen's single scored Buchanan and MacBeth reached on an error which allowed Szyska to score.

DePauw totaled seven hits led by Paris' two along with three RBI. Three different Terriers collected one hit apiece.

Emily Bichler improved to 27-8 after allowing just three hits with five strikeouts. Alyssa Lane dropped to 14-8 with the loss.
