Colorado College; Trinity Women Tabbed USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released its team and individual academic awards with Trinity University and Colorado College's women being named All-Academic teams.

The All-Academic teams must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 of better. A total of 207 women's team met these requirements. 

Trinity, coached by Emily Daum, posted a team GPA of 3.30 this season. Trinity's women placed second at the SCAC Championships behind five runners who secured All-Conference selections. Trinity's Emma MacEachern also qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship this year where she posted a 23:17.40 in the 6k. 

Trinity also had four runners earn individual academic awards including MacEachern, Melissa Whitman, Molly McCullough and Samantha Simank. To earn that distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional.

Colorado College, led by Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year Ted Castaneda, posted a team GPA of 3.52 this season. Colorado's season was highlighted by their second straight conference title at the 2015 SCAC Championships in Sherman, Texas. Colorado placed eight runners on the All-Conference team and sent a program-best three to the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship. 

Colorado College also had five runners who earned individual academic awards including Alyssa Warling, SCAC Women's Runner-of-the-Year Leah Wessler, Katie Sandfort, Allison Crimmins and SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year Leah Veldhuisen.

Southwestern University's Briana Timourian also earned the USTFCCCA infidiudual academic award. Timourian placed 31st overall at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship. She posted a 23:47 in the 6K at the event.
