Colorado College and Trinity Women Both Fourth at Respective NCAA Cross Country Regionals

Colorado College and Trinity University both finished fourth at their respective regionals in NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country action on Saturday morning.

KERNSTOWN, Va. - Trinity University sophomore Emma MacEachern (pictured) placed eighth overall and earned one of the seven national qualifying positions as she and her Tiger teammates paced all SCAC schools at the South/Southeast Regional with a fourth place team finish. The top seven individuals at each of the eight regionals that are not associated with the top two finishing teams receive at-large berths to the National meet.

Joining MacEachern on the All-Region team was teammate sophomore Melissa Whitman, who finished in 24th in a time of 23:24.5, and freshman Molly McCullough who was 26th with a time of 23:28.4. Rounding out Trinity's runners, sophomore Lexi Phelps placed 39th (23:59.6), sophomore Haley McFadden finished 41st (24:01.4), freshman Samantha Simank placed 50th (24:19.2) and freshman Allison Hill was 66th (24:42.0). The Tigers placed fourth with a team score of 136.

No other team competed with enough runners to post a team score, but Southwestern University sophomore Brianna Timourian placed 31st in a time of 23:47.0 and the Texas Lutheran University duo of junior Sarah Fritzsche (25:13.1) and freshman Kaitlin Hindes (26:19.4) placed 94th and 130th, respectively.

Austin CollegeCentenary College, the University of Dallas and Schreiner University did not compete in the regional competition.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Colorado College teammates Allysa Warling and two-time SCAC runner of the Year Leah Wessler finished 10th and 11th and led the Tigers to a fourth-place team finish at the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country West Regional, hosted by Occidental College. West Regional Complete Results

With 92 points, Colorado College finished just five points behind third-place Whitworth and 13 points behind second-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Warling (22:14.6) and Wessler (22:17.2) both earned All-Region status by placing in the top 35 finishers and also earned a trip to the NCAA National meet (Nov. 22) by virtue of finishing in the top seven runners not associated with the top two teams.

After the announcement that third-place Whitworth had been selected as an at-large team, junior Katie Sandfort (22:32.7) also earned a trip to the NCAA national meet with her 14th place finish.

Joining Warling, Wessler and Sandfort on the all-region team was freshman Leah Veldhuisen (25th - 23:04.0) and junior Allison Crimmins (32nd - 23:16.7).

Rounding out the CC harriers was junior Stefani Messick who placed 48th (23:45.0) and sophomore Patty Atkinson (61st - 24:19.2).

Colorado College was the only SCAC school that competed in the West Regional.
