Southwestern Blanks Austin College; Advances to SCAC Men's Tennis Semifinals

SHERMAN, Texas -- Second-seeded and 37th-ranked Southwestern University opened play at the Southern College Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship with a 5-0 quarterfinal victory host and seven-seeded Austin College Friday afternoon on the Jordan Family Courts at the Russell Tennis Center on the campus of Austin College. Official Website l Postmatch Interview | Photo Album

With the victory, Southwestern improves to 14-8 and advances to play the winner of third-seeded Colorado College and sixth-seeded University of St. Thomas in tomorrow's second men's semifinal on the indoor courst at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex at SMU. Austin College concludes its season with a record of 1-11. 

The Pirates secured a 3-0 lead heading into singles after picking up wins at the top two doubles lines, paired with a walk through at line three doubles. Southwestern was led in doubles by an 8-0 shutout on the No. 2 line with Parth Patel and Bernardo Clemente

Needing just one singles win to secure the win after a walk through at six singles, Oscar Roy closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1, victory over Trey Salyer
