DANIKA WRIGHT OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Alpine, Utah has been named the SCAC Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 29 through Sunday, October 5.
Wright led the Tiger defense
to two shutouts over the weekend, as the team defeated both Austin
College and the University of Dallas.
Wright was key to the defense that allowed just four
shots to Austin College on Friday, then held Dallas without a shot
attempt in Sunday’s win. The two shutouts run
Trinity’s streak to four straight games without allowing a
goal. Wright also scored Trinity’s
second goal of the game against Dallas, giving Trinity its 2-0
halftime lead.
For the season, Wright is second on the team with
four goals this season, and the Tiger defense has four total
shutouts. The defense has not allowed a goal in nearly 400
minutes of play (394:30) over its last few
games.
