JANICE OKEKE OF MILLSAPS COLLEGE, a junior from Jackson, Miss., has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending February 13, 2011.

Okeke currently leads the SCAC in rebounding (10.5 rpg) and is 14th in scoring (12.5 ppg) while leading the Majors to an incredible turnaround season in 2010-11.

Currently progressing toward a Biology Major with a Minor in Sociology, Okeke has received numerous academic honors while at Millsaps. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma and has been both a Dean's and President's Scholar as well as an SCAC Academic Honor Roll selection.

She has served in various volunteer roles with local churches and children's hospital in the Jackson community, and, on the Millsaps campus, is a member of the Black Student Association as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Okeke currently works as a student volunteer at the Methodist Speciality Care Center where she assists residents with day-to-day needs. At her church, she helps to host a monthly play day for neighborhood children every third Friday.
