JACKSON, Miss. - DePauw University and Centre College will meet for the 2010 SCAC women's basketball championship on Sunday, February 28. DePauw defeated Rhodes College, 77-50, and Centre held off Hendrix College, 86-77.

JACKSON, Miss.
- The DePauw University women advanced to the SCAC title game for
the seventh time in eight years with a 77-50 victory over Rhodes
College in the women's first semifinal Saturday afternoon at
Millsaps College.
Jenna Fernandez had 17 points and Emily Marshall added a
double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Tigers improved
to 24-3 on the season. Marshall's first rebound of the game gave
her 76 for her four-year SCAC tournament career - making her the
league's all-time leading rebounder in conference championship
play.
Rhodes, which ends its season with a 14-13 mark, was led by senior
Becky Atnip who poured in 22 points in her final career game.
DePauw came out on fire in the first half, shooting 64.3 percent
(18-28) from the floor, including 7-of-8 from beyond the
three-point arc to take a 48-29 lead.
The 14th-ranked Tigers shot 52.5 percent from the field for the
game and held Rhodes to just 28.0 percent and led by as many as 33
points. The Lynx did not score another field goal after the 14:29
mark - managing just 10 free throws the rest of the way.
Next up for DePauw is the winner of tonight's second semifinal
match-up - Centre College and Hendrix College. Tip off for
tomorrow's SCAC women's championship game is scheduled for 2:30
p.m. CT. The winner earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA
Tournament.

Miss. - The Centre College women advanced to their
first-ever SCAC tournament championship game after Saturday's 86-77
victory over Hendrix College at the Hangar Dome on the campus of
Millsaps College.
The Colonels (19-7) will face DePauw University in tomorrow's
title game. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT with the winner
advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
Centre had four players score in double figures, led by Lauren
Huter who posted a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. The
sophomore hit on 10-of-15 shots as the Colonels sank 53.7 percent
of their attempts from the field - including a red-hot 65.4 percent
in the second half.
Chelsea Benham had 18 points off the bench and Maggie Prewitt and
Chelsea Goodman chipped in with 16 and 14 points respectively.
Prewitt added six assists and four steals.
With her 14 point-effort, Goodman moved past current coach and
former Colonel great Wendie Austin-Robinson into third
place on the school's career scoring list.
Hendrix, which ends its season with a 20-5 mark, was led by senior
Christina Byler who poured in a game-high 30 points and nine
rebounds.
In a very physical game, where 46 total fouls were called, both
teams spent significant time at the charity stripe. Centre sank
26-of-36 of its attempts (72.2 percent) while Hendrix made 22-of-29
(75.9 percent) from the line.
