ROUND ROCK, Texas -- A pair of second half goals propelled second-seeded McMurry University to the SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament Final with a 2-0 win over sixth-seeded Hendrix College in the second SCAC semifinal contest Friday at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. For the second-straight contest Friday, it was a scoreless first half as McMurry outshot Hendrix 9-5 in the first half and came out firing with another pair of shots in the opening minutes of second half action. The War Hawks finally found the back of the net in the 67th minute as Laila Brown beat a pair of defenders and split past the goalkeeper to sink the gamewinner. McMurry was able to add one more in the 77th minute as Hailey Andrle fired a shot that cross the line before richocheting out, and was upheld upon review.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brown's goal marked her sixth of the season and just the second gamewinner of her career for the sophomore.
- Three War Hawks earned assists with Halin Griffith making the connection on the first goal and the duo of Madison Black and Audrey Pool on the second.
- McMurry outshot Hendrix 21-8 in the contest with 10 shots on goal to the Warriors' three.
- This was the 10th contest of the season that the War Hawks defense kept its opponent scoreless.
