CAITLIN HODGES
OF BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN COLLEGE,
a senior from Baton Rouge, La., has been selected the
SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week
for the week ending March 20, 2011.
Hodges, a member of the BSC cross country and
track & field teams, is also a member of Pi Beta Phi
Sorority and volunteers at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School,
reading to and tutoring children.
A member of The United Methodist Scholarship Group,
Hodges volunteers with helping to build community
gardens at local churches. She also serves as secretary of
Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and is a member of Omicron
Delta Kappa Honor Society for leadership and involvement.
Hodges is a member of Leadership Studies,
volunteering once a week at First Light Emergency Women's Shelter
in downtown Birmingham, serving breakfast, cleaning, and working
the front desk. She also taught a class at the shelter on phone
skills and family skills, and still keeps in touch with several of
the women that she worked with to this day. Hodges
is a member of the Leadership Studies Committee, and is a past
member of the Students Offering Support Orientation Staff. She was
on SAAC and has also served as a Rho Gamma Sorority Recruitment
Leader.
