Texas Lutheran Softball Slips One Spot in NFCA Top 25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Texas Lutheran softball team slipped to No. 5 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 for NCAA Division III. 

The NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll is selected by Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions. 

The Bulldogs last played on April 24th when they claimed their third straight SCAC title. After some movement around the rest of the Top 25, TLU is now tied with Luther (34-2) at the fifth spot. 

TLU heads into postseason play behind offensive leader Taylor Yancey who finished with a .485 batting average, .735 slugging percentage, .529 OBP, 64 hits and 48 RBI. The trio of pitchers, Veny Pizana, Amanda Lochte and Taylor Grissom lead a pitching staff that posts the seventh-best team ERA in the nation (1.45).

The Bulldogs (41-3) await word of where they will be sent for NCAA Regional play - which begins Friday, May 13.
