TIM LEATHERMAN OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a senior defensive back from Ingram, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, November 9. SCAC Football Release (Week 10)
Leatherman led the War Hawks' defense, posting six tackles which included three tackles for loss and one sack as McMurry improved to 6-1 in the SCAC with a 28-0 shutout of Lyon College. Leatherman, who took two interceptions to the house against Lyon when the teams met in Abilene in September, made his encore performance with a 48-yard return for a 28-0 lead with 11:14 to go in the game.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore linebacker Sean Blanks of Texas Lutheran had a teame high seven tackles, including four solo, as the Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the SCAC football title with a 46-23 road victory at Centenary. Freshman Omar Butler of Centenary led the Gents with a team-best seven tackles (all solo) on Saturday against TLU. He added one sack and one tackle for loss and tied his single-game season high in tackles previously set against Lyon College.
