JESS HOEL OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore quarterback from Abernathy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 28. It is the third consecutive week he has earned the honor. SCAC Football Release (Week 4)
Hoel had a hand in all four of his team's touchdowns, finishing the game with 269 yards passing (21-of-30) and two touchdowns while adding 65 yards on the ground and two more scores, as the War Hawks moved to 3-0 in the SCAC with a 34-9 victory at Austin College.
Hoel went over 1,000 yards passing for the season on Saturday and currently leads the SCAC in both passing yards per game (259.3) and touchdown passes (11).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior receiver of Caleb Camarillo of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs in receiving with five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 49-0 conference shutout win over Lyon. Camarillo, who had a 28-yard touchdown catch that gave TLU a 35-0 lead early in the fourth quarter, is currently third in the SCAC in receiving, averaging 54.5 yards per game. Junior quarterback Zin'Tavious Smith of Centenary completed 10 of 21 passing attempts for 97 yards and one touchdown in the Gents' 47-8 loss at ETBU on Saturday. He also rushed 13 times for 32 yards. Smith connected with Kobe Chambers for a 61-yard TD for Centenary's lone TD of the game.
