LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer was in full swing last week as all nine teams competed in league action.
Colorado College has jumped out to a 4-1 mark in SCAC play after defeating Johnson & Wales, 1-0, on Tuesday and Texas Lutheran, 3-1, on Sunday. The CC Tigers however saw its five-game winning streak snapped on Sunday with an overtime loss to Southwestern, 1-0. In addition, the Pirates defeated Schreiner, 2-0, at home on Tuesday and earned a, 1-1, double overtime draw against Johnson & Wales on the road on Friday to finish the week with a 2-0-1 record in league play.
Trinity, ranked ninth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll, picked up a pair of SCAC victories last week after its contest against Texas Lutheran was postponed due to weather on Tuesday. The TU Tigers defeated Austin College, 3-0, on Friday night and Centenary, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon.
TLU split SCAC road contests last week after the cancellation on Tuesday, falling to Colorado College on Friday but bounced back with a shutout of Johnson & Wales, 2-0, on Sunday.
Schreiner has opened league play by earning points in three of its opening four contests with its lone SCAC victory coming against Centenary, 2-1, last Friday. In its lone action of the week, Dallas shutout Centenary, 1-0, last Tuesday to improve to .500 in league play.
SCAC play returns this week with eight contests scheduled, highlighted by Texas Lutheran hosting Southwestern on Tuesday and Colorado College visiting Trinity on Friday.
