LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The last four slots for the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball tournament were determined this week, and Colorado College and Trinity both secured a share of the Regular Season Championship.
No. 4 CC defeated Johnson & Wales and Dallas to finish out the season. The Tigers also earned a non-conference victory against Mississippi University for Women on Friday.
No. 10 Trinity defeated Austin College, Centenary and Southwestern at the A-B Divisional Crossover. Earlier in the week the Tigers ousted No. 21 Mary-Hardin Baylor in non-conference action.
Despite its five-set loss to Trinity over the weekend, Southwestern swept Schreiner and Texas Lutheran to lock up the third seed for this weekend's tournament.
Over the weekend Dallas played to a 2-1 record after earning victories against Johnson & Wales and Mississippi U. for Women. The Crusaders claimed a tournament berth in their win over the Wildcats.
Early in the week Centenary defeated Louisiana College. The Ladies, who hosted the Divisional Crossover over the weekend, defeated Austin College and Schreiner to send them to the SCAC tournament for the second year in a row.
Austin College and Texas Lutheran battled for the final postseason slot on Sunday afternoon where the Roos' edged the Bulldogs in five-sets. Last week AC also topped Schreiner and non-conference opponent Arlington Baptist. TLU defeated Centenary but will miss the postseason for the first time since 2012.
Johnson & Wales ended its inaugural season with a victory over Mississippi U. for Women.
The 2018 regular season concludes on Tuesday when Centenary hosts Jarvis Christian. The SCAC Volleyball Tournament begins on Friday - to get information about this weekend's 2018 SCAC Volleyball Championship, visit the official tournament website.
