ADRYAN ALVAREZ OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a sophomore guard from El Paso, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 26 through Sunday, January 1. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 8)

Alvarez came off the bench to spark Dallas to a pair of key SCAC road victories last week, defeating Centenary, 68-44, on Friday and then knocking off St. Thomas, 60-54, on Saturday. She averaged 15.5 points on 46.7 percent shooting, including a red-hot 75 percent from three-point range. In less than 25 minutes per game, Alvarez also added 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. Alvarez has now reached the 15-point plateau five times this season, including twice last week and notched double-digits in points nine times. Her efforts have lifted Dallas to its best start through five SCAC games since the 2014-15 season and the Crusaders’ current four game winning streak is their longest since 2016-17.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Naomi Anamekwe of Austin College had a strong weekend for the ‘Roos, averaging a double-double with 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds-per-game on a remarkable 75 percent shooting.  She also averaged 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while setting career bests with 14 points and 14 rebounds -- her first ever double-double -- at St. Thomas.  Sophomore guard Alana Jones of Centenary led the Ladies to their first victory of the season and first win over Austin College since 2013 last Saturday, 68-62.  Jones scored nine points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out a team-high five assists and added two steals and blocked one shot. Senior forward Ashlyn Milton of Trinity led the third-ranked Tigers to a victory in their only game last week, handing Schreiner its first loss in SCAC play with a 74-60 home win. Milton knocked down 4-for-6 from beyond the arc on her way to a 20-point night, playing in just 21 minutes. Milton scored 12 of her 20 points during a 32-point third quarter for the Tigers, which turned a 32-31 Schreiner halftime lead into a 63-41 advantage for Trinity.
