SEGUIN, Texas – The Trinity University culminated an impressive tournament run, earning the program its record-setting 24th conference title, with a 4-0 victory over University of Dallas Sunday afternoon at Gustafson Field on the campus of Texas Lutheran University. The championship is the 24th for the Trinity women's soccer program, equaling the 24 won by the Trinity men's tennis program. The TU men's tennis team will have a chance next weekend to move back ahead as the winningest program in SCAC history - specific to conference championships - when they host the 2021 conference championship event.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second consecutive match, Trinity's Ward opened the scoring, this time in the fourth minute with a ball into the left corner off a pass from Alex Walsh.
- Just over two minutes later, Molly Sheridan scored her third goal of the tournament, putting one into an open net 5:46 into the contest.
- Trinity's Cassie Bowers found the net for the third time his season just before the half, putting in a header off an assist from Nyah Shepherd, to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead at the break.
- The only goal of the second half came off the foot of Sheridan as she beat the keeper with a shot to the left corner in the 69th minute.
- Trinity held a dominant 49-2 advantage in shots; 19-1 in shots on goal; Dallas did not attempt a shot in the first half.
- Trinity had six corners to zero by Dallas.

- Junior midfielder Kaity Ward was name the tournament's Most Valuable Offensive Player. Her five goals in the tournament equal the single tournament record, now shared with former Tiger Kelsey Falcone, who had five goals in the 2013 event - ironically, also held at Texas Lutheran. Ward had two goals against Schreiner, two against TLU and one in today's match.
- The nine combined goals by Ward (5) and Molly Sheridan (4) in the tournament are the most in a single tournament by a teammate duo in league history.
- Ward's goal with 3:25 off the clock is the second-fastest goal in the conference championship match in league history. Kelsey Falcone scored just 1:21 into the championship match against Southwestern in 2013. Ward's match-opening goal also represents the seventh fastest goal in tournament history.
- Senior defencer Lindsey Peng earned Most Valuable Defensive Player honors as the Tigers posted three consecutive shutouts to claim this year's title.
- In the SCAC postseason tournament Trinity holds a 22-1-2 record.
- The Tigers posted their eighth-straight and 22nd shutout overall in SCAC Tournament action.
- This marked the fourth consecutive year the championship winning team has not allowed a goal scored during the tournament.
- This year's title game was a rematch of the 2012 championship game when Trinity defeated the Crusaders 1-0. Trinity improves to 4-0 all-time against Dallas in SCAC Tournament play.
- In its 12 tournament final appearances, Trinity is 10-1-1, which includes last year's championship match that resulted in a 5-4 PK decision for Southwestern.
- Trinity ends the abbrevaited 2020-21 season with a perfect 10-0-0 mark while Dallas ends its season at 6-3-0.
