SCAC Announces Fan Policy Update for Championships

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office announced today the league's current fan policy will remain in effect throughout the remainder of the 2020-21 academic year, including during championship play.

As has been the case throughout the 2020-21 academic year, the league’s current policy related to all indoor events remains in effect. therefore, no fans will be permitted during any round of the SCAC Volleyball Tournament.

If an institution scheduled to host a championship event currently does not permit visitors on its campus, it remains conference policy that fans will not be permitted at that particular championship. As it stands, Trinity University does not permit visitors on its campus, therefore, there will not be fans permitted at this year's men's and women's tennis championships.

As for other outdoor championships scheduled to be hosted on campus, institutions who currently allow fans from within their own campus, including staff and students, in addition to parents and family of student-athletes from their own teams, those institutions will be permitted to continue this practice during outdoor championship/tournament play. Additionally, and consistent with the league's current policy, no spectators of visiting teams will be permitted to attend any on-campus championship event

Championships that will operate within these guidelines include men's soccer (Centenary), women's soccer (Texas Lutheran), softball (Schreiner), men's and women's track & field (Texas Lutheran), men's lacrosse (Colorado College) and women's lacrosse (Dallas).

Those interested in a particular institution’s process should contact the applicable athletic department or visit each of the conference members' athletics websites.

Championships that have been scheduled for neutral, off-campus sites - men's and women's golf and baseball - will permit fans per the rules and regulations established by the host facility (in consultation with the conference) as well as within any standards and guidelines provided by local health authorities. Additional information will be available on site for these venues and patrons at each event will be expected to abide by these established standards.
