AUSTIN, Texas - Trinity University Women's Tennis senior Zoe Kaffen was made a second team academic All-America selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Tuesday.

The 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Player of the Year earned her first CoSIDA academic honor with the at-large all-district edition last month as she posted a 3.83 grade-point average in pursuit of a communication major as she maneuvered her way into a singles national championship berth and led the Tigers to a No. 19 national ranking as a team.

Kaffen joins Keaton Holt of Trinity Cross Country to mark the first CoSIDA academic all-america honors in back-to-back seasons since collecting at least one honor each year from 2013 to 2017. Kaffen is the 55th Tiger all-time to be recognized by CoSIDA as academic all-american since 1981, the third all-time for Trinity Women's Tennis, first since Lizzie Yasser's second-team selection in 2002.

On July 2, the four-time all-SCAC performer was announced as a finalist for the 2021 SCAC Woman of the Year award, which recognizes the conference's senior female student-athlete who has best distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence and service and leadership.

Kaffen is a two-time member of the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team, a four-time SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll selection, a three-time ITA scholar athlete and has made six appearances on the Trinity University Dean's List. She volunteered with the Salvation Army, the New Braunfels Food Bank, and at St. Jude; as well as helping to launch Trinity's Rebounce recycle program that involved recycling tennis balls to animal shelters around the country. Kaffen also helped coach kids with disabilities through Kinetic Kids, and she participated in free tennis clinics for the San Antonio community through the TU Smashers program.
