KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) released the 2020-21 Scholar All-America and Scholar All-Region Teams this week, and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes earned recognition.
Trinity’s Camryn Beall and Kaity Ward headlined the SCAC contingent, earning both USC Scholar All-America and All-West Region honors. Beall and Ward were joined by teammate Lindsey Peng on the Scholar All-West Region squad.
The Tiger trio stand with a GPA of at least a 3.88, combined for 27 of 30 possible starts this season and collected All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors led by Ward's SCAC Offensive Player of the Year award.
Trinity posted a clean 10-0-0 record in the 2021 spring SCAC-only campaign capped by the conference title secured in the 4-0 victory over University of Dallas in Seguin, Texas last month.
Peng, a Biology major, earned a $10,000 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in the days leading up to the 2021 SCAC Championship which marked the third consecutive academic year a Tiger was selected. On the field, the veteran defender collected her second career first team All-SCAC and SCAC All-Tournament selections as she started all 10 matches and collected four points on her way to lead the Trinity back line to eight shutouts.
Ward, a Business Administration major, earned the SCAC Offensive Player of the Year award via a dominant season on the attack as the junior more-than doubled her career scoring output with 13 goals for a total of 30 points which nearly tripled the that of the leading non-Trinity player in SCAC competition this spring.
Beall, majoring in Accounting, rounds out the scholar all-region selections as a second team All-SCAC recipient, her third all-conference honor in as many seasons as a Tiger. The 2019 first team all-region selection commanded the midfield in eight starts to aid in the offensive explosion brought forth by Trinity this spring.
To be eligible for Scholar All-Region or All-America recognition, student-athletes must meet the following criteria:
- 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
- Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
- Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
- Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school.
