LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Season continued last week, highlighted by Dallas and Southwestern earning their first victories of the season and Trinity bouncing back with a pair of road victories.
Dallas (2-4, 2-4) swept Centenary (0-6, 0-6) at home last weekend, picking up the win on Friday night, 70-63, and then earning a 23-point win on Saturday, 68-45. The win on Friday marked the first victory for the Crusaders since December 2019 and the sweep over the Ladies gave Dallas back-to-back conference wins for the first time since the 2015-16 season. In the opener, Alyssa Sullivan and Camille Fowler paced Dallas with 19 points each. Sullivan shot seventy percent from the field and grabbed seven rebounds, while Fowler went four of six from beyond the arc and added three assists. Imani Hardin grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, the most by any Crusader since Faith Starness collected 17 against Dallas Christian on January 8th, 2019. Fowler led Dallas once again in scoring on Saturday, pouring in 18 points. On the weekend, Fowler averaged 18.5 points per game while shooting an outstanding 61.5 percent (8-13) from long distance. Hardin closed out the weekend averaging 14 rebounds a night after collecting 11 more on Saturday. Addy Tremie averaged 16 points over the weekend for Centenary which included matching her career-high with 18 on Friday night.
Southwestern (1-5, 1-5) snapped its four-game losing streak on Friday by earning an impressive, 65-58, road victory at Colorado College (3-1, 3-1). The Pirates shot a season-high 43.1 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the line on their way to earning their first victory in Colorado Springs since the 2016-17 season. Noel Pratts scored a season-high 19 points to lead the way for Southwestern. The CC Tigers would bounce back on Saturday to earn a split of the weekend series, defeating the Pirates, 80-76. Colorado College set season-highs in three-point field goals made (7), free throws made (25), assists (16) and points scored (80) to secure the win. McKenzee Gertz led Colorado College with 20 points, while Anna Fanelli cashed in a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists.
Trinity (4-2, 4-2) bounced back to secure a pair of road wins last weekend, defeating Texas Lutheran (2-2, 2-2), 78-52, on Friday and then securing a 13-point win on Saturday, 69-56. On Friday night, the Tigers hit a season-high 56.9 percent of their shots and dished out a season best 19 assists, while Saturday’s victory highlighted a season best 78.9 percent free throw percentage and five team blocks. Ashlyn Milton was the Tiger’s standout over the weekend, averaging 15 points per game on 64.7 percent shooting. Milton also added 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game for Trinity. Abby Hroch averaged 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to lead the Bulldogs.
SCAC play continues this weekend as the calendar turns to February, highlighted by St. Thomas hosting Austin College, Texas Lutheran traveling to square-off against Southwestern, Colorado College and Centenary going head-to-head in Shreveport and Schreiner hosting Dallas.
