NORMAN, Okla. - Trinity University Head Men's Golf Coach and Director of Golf Sean Etheredge was named the NCAA III West Region Coach of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America Wednesday.

The 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Coach of the Year led the Tigers to the first SCAC Championship for the men since 2013 en route to the program's first NCAA III Championship appearance since 2002. On the national stage, Trinity rallied to make the second-day cut and collect an 11th-place finish.

Etheredge's second and third all-americans under his leadership, sophomore Holden Wisener and junior DJ Springer, pushed the Tigers' performance on the national stage in Wheeling, West Virginia following Wisener's SCAC Player of the Year award. The eighth-year coach collected his first all-american player when sophomore Daniel Nunez earned the recognition for the 2020 campaign. First-year Giorgio Gianoulis joined the group of award winners as the 2021 SCAC Freshman of the Year.

Trinity Golf hosts the 2021 Alamo City Classic at The Quarry Golf Course in San Antonio October 11-12, with the remainder of the schedule to be announced.
