LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The 2021 SCAC Softball Championship is set to begin on Friday, April 30 and will run through Sunday, May 2 in Kerrville, Texas on the campus of Schreiner University. Official Website l Printable Bracket | Week 10 Softball Release
For the seventh consecutive conference tournament, Texas Lutheran (18-0 SCAC; 27-4 overall) will be the overall top seed. The defending national champions, the Bulldogs are currently ranked second in the nation and head into this weekend's tournament on a 19-game winning streak. With a pair of victories over St. Thomas on Saturday (7-2 and 9-1), Texas Lutheran ends the regular season having won its last 41 conference games.
The host school, Schreiner (14-7 SCAC; 20-20 overall) will be the No. 2 seed and, along with TLU, will receive a first-round bye into Friday's winner's bracket contest.
Battling in first round match-ups on Friday, fourth-seeded Southwestern (11-10 SCAC; 14-18) will take on fifth-seeded Centenary (8-11 SCAC; 15-9) at 11 a.m. and that will be followed by third-seeded Trinity (11-9 SCAC; 15-14) taking on the sixth-seed, Dallas (2-19 SCAC: 4-21) in the 1:30 p.m. game. All times are Central.
Since the inception of the SCAC Softball Tournament in the 1999 season, Trinity has claimed seven tournament titles (1999, 2000-02, 2005-07) to lead the league. Texas Lutheran is second with six tourney titles (2014-19), DePauw has won three (2008-09, '11) and Southwestern two (2010, '13). Millsaps (2003), Sewanee-Univ. of the South (2004) and Birmingham-Southern (2012) have one title apiece.
