LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball continued this week, although just three games were played due to travel concerns created by the frigid weather that enveloped the conference footprint.
St. Thomas (6-2 SCAC; 7-3 overall) split games over the weekend, posting a 65-41 victory over Texas Lutheran on Friday. Cameron Gims led all scorers with 15 points, shooting 50 percent from behind the arc. Junior Juan Hood also scored in double figures for the Celts, adding 12 points.
Texas Lutheran (3-5 SCAC; 3-5 overall) bounced back on Saturday to defeat the Celts, 64-55. Senior Caleb Lister led the Bulldogs with a game-high 22 points and fellow upperclassman Sebastian Andrade added 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals. TLU took advantage of its trips to the charity stripe, successfully hitting on 85.7 percent (24-28) of its attempts.
Trinity (6-1 SCAC; 6-1 overall) posted its sixth-straight victory in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday night with a 89-66 victory over Austin College (3-4 SCAC; 3-4 overall). A trio of Tigers scored in double-figures, with Tanner Brown leading the way with 17 points off the bench. Ben Hanley added 16 points with Kaleb Jenkins chipping in with 15 points. Sophomore Tristan Dick led Austin College with 18 points and eight rebounds. Friday night’s game between Trinity and Austin was cancelled due to weather.
Schreiner and Colorado College’s weekend double-header at CC was also canceled.
The sixth week of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference basketball continues this week with eight games on the schedule, highlighted by Trinity traveling to Southwestern (4-2 SCAC; 4-2 overall) for a scheduled Friday/Saturday doubleheader.
