LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - 
Three conference fixtures highlighted Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer last week, as Colorado College and Centenary both secured three points to draw even with Southwestern at the top of the table.

Colorado College (2-1-0, 2-0-0) fell behind, 1-0, to Schreiner (0-3-0, 0-3-0) in the 59th minute on a goal from Dustin Scott, assisted by Justin Rodriguez, Saturday afternoon in Kerrville. It was Scott’s first goal of the season. However, just 74 seconds later, CC leveled the score when Kiran Singh hit a one-time volley into the lower left corner of the net off a cross from Jackson Silverstein. Silverstein then registered the game-winner, just 19 seconds later, compliments of an Alexander Ward cross. It was the fourth game-winning goal of Silverstein’s career and the second time he has recoded a goal and an assist in a single game. This is the second time in the last three years Colorado College has opened SCAC play with 2-0 record.  

In a wild and physical affair that featured 30 fouls, six yellow cards and two red cards, Centenary (2-1-1, 2-0-0) defeated Austin College (0-1-0, 0-1-0), 4-2, on Saturday afternoon in Shreveport. The ‘Roos struck first in the 19th minute as Xander Spurlock scored off a feed from Cesar Escobar. The game went into half knotted at 1-1 after Andres Bautista scored his second of the season for the Gents. In the second half, Centenary struck first in the second half on a goal from Jose Uriostegui, thanks to an assist from Bautista. Austin College tied the game at 2-2 when Diego Rodriguez scored an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute, however a pair of goals from Jaron Petreas, the first coming in the 76th minute secured the win for Centenary. The win now puts Centenary tied atop the league standings with six points and give the Gents an opportunity to go 3-0 in SCAC play for the first time in program history.

In the final contest of the weekend, St. Thomas (1-1-2, 1-1-1), tied Dallas (1-2-1), 2-2, on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Houston. Chase Reynolds opened the scoring, giving Dallas the lead in the 23rd minute on an unassisted goal. The Celts responded in the 34th minute when Tom Hultsch scored off an assist from Kelvin Cardona as the game went into half, 1-1. St. Thomas took the lead in the 65th minute after an unassisted tally from Jose Umana but Reynolds bookended the goals with his second of the day, scoring on a penalty kick. Despite playing down a man for much of the second half and all of overtime, the Crusaders held on for a result and one point in the standings. St. Thomas outshot Dallas, 21-8, and held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

SCAC men’s soccer continues this week with six conference fixtures on the schedule, highlighted by Trinity opening its season at Dallas on Friday and then taking on Austin College in Sherman on Sunday.
